I just received a phone call from this number saying that I was pre-selected by the government to receive $7000.,they wanted my bank account info so they could transfer money to me. However this is not the first time they have called me last time they said I took out a payday loan and they needed money from me! SCAM!!!

they called for Rebecca and had a weird/fake voice. i told my gma and she said that she heard people talking about that # calling people and the phone call costing $25.00 a minute! the phone call was at 2/3/2011 3:32pm and lsted 19 seconds. they hung up when i said "wrong #"

They call twice a week I never answer, you shouldn't either. This is obvious scam you can tell from the phone number.

PLEASE take the time and call the FTC at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357);
and file a report. When consumers start reporting the same thing over and over again they will take action. I called tham and they were very professional and nice. The lady told me they had JUST shut down a similar operation. Also, the last time Stanley called, I told him I was recording the call and he hasn't called back since. HB, I checked out your video, AWESOME!!!!

Total scam, this is the 3rd time theyve called me and said theyre sending me money and ive never gotten it. i really hope no vulnerable elderly person gets talked into giving their information away. heres a video i filmed of the last time they called.

I received a call from the number as well. It seemed like a desperate attempt to con people out of money. The caller was foreign and stated that he was calling from the New York Gov. Financial Aid agency. They had my mailing address correct and asked me what bank I was associated with, and then when he asked me for my card number, I refused, and when he said the price was 100 dollars to receive a check for the 7k, I said I couldn't do that either, and then we hung up. I did find it weird that he had the mailing information right and was able to get in contact with me, but did not know the information on where to put the money if I really was "selected" to receive a gov. pell grant. Especially since I've received pell grants before and the people that gave me the pell grants did not have to call for my banking information.

The same thing happened to me... The scary thing about the situation is that he was providing me with information about myself that made the situation believable - at first! He said that I was awarded 7k as a Government Student Loan that would be direct deposited to me. He asked me if my mailing address was still [provided my address]. Then he started asking for account information and I hung up... Any Government Loan company especially a student loan after stating my name and my address would already have my account information on record considering I already get Government Student Loans... And for a second I got my hopes up when he said 7k Student Loan that didn't have to be paid back.
Don't be fooled, he may provide information about you that makes it sound legit but look for the signs of stupidity, this foreigner doesn't know how to sound like a business man.

It was a man with a foreign accent telling me he was calling from a United States Financial Aid agency and that I had been selected to receive 7K for being a good citizen with no bankruptcy or criminal record and paying my bills on time. He said all that was needed was my bank or plastic card and I could retrieve it in a couple hours. I told him no thank you and he laughed and asked why and what was the problem, I just told him because and said goodbye and hung up.

This number has been calling my cell phone for the past 4 days. I have not answered it due to the fact this is unlike any other phone number that has called me.

He was calling from a very noisy call center. He stated that he had $7,000.00 to give me and he needed my credit card number. He would only tell me he was calling from Washington DC. When I would not give him any information and insisted on the name of his company, he told me I was wasting his time and he would call me every 5 minutes. I told him I was recording the call and he hung up. DO NOT take a call from these people.
